Picture of Harry DurnallHarry has worked in theatre for 40 years, as a Director, Designer and Actor. During this time he has contributed to over 200 productions, ranging from Shakespeare to Panto, Musicals to Melodrama. For 15 years he was Artistic Director of the award winning Belfrey Theatre in Shropshire.

Since relocating to West Wales some years ago, he has worked freelance. Productions over the last 5 years have included the hit musical, ‘Little Shop of Horrors’, Effie’s Burning’, ‘The Royal Hunt of the Sun’, the RSC premiered ‘Christmas Carol’, ‘After Juliet’, Laurie Lee’s ‘Cider with Rosie’, ‘ Blue Remembered Hills’, ‘Seven Jewish Children’, ‘Tom Jones’, and the World Premier of ‘The Remnants of Once Fine Girls’, all as Director & Designer. ‘The Remnants of Once Fine Girls’ was performed at the 2010 Edinburgh Fringe Festival where it was nominated for 6 awards.

In November 2010 he directed and designed the much acclaimed production of ‘The Roses of Eyam’.
In April 2011 he directed ‘Be My Baby’ which was presented firstly in Wales, then transferred to the 2011 Edinburgh Fringe Festival where it was nominated for several awards and played to capacity houses. In November2011 he directed a revival of the Dylan Thomas classic ‘Under Milk Wood’ followed by a tour of the Ayckbourn classic ‘How the Other Half Loves’ in April 2012.

He is now preparing ‘Twelfth Night’ to be presented in July 2012 as part of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Open Stages programme.

Future directing plans include a family show in December 2012 and a tour of a one act play in early 2013 which will be taken to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

As an actor he has, in recent years, performed in a Pinter double bill tour of ‘Ashes to Ashes’ and ‘Silence’, Travelling Light’ and ‘Peter Pan’, for which he was also designer. He has played the part of Gilbert in the stage adaptation of the film, ‘Topsy Turvey’, the story of Gilbert and Sullivan.

Film work has included the role of Donny Dynamo in the BFI Award nominated film ‘An Interview with Donny Dynamo’, and the horror movie, ‘Tarantula’. Future film plans include a follow up to Donny Dynamo and Directing and Producing a silent thriller, ‘In Dreams’.
