“To begin at the beginning…………………………”
Louche Theatre’s Autumn production will be the Dylan Thomas classic
UNDER MILK WOOD
Directed by Harry Durnall
Hailed by many as Dylan Thomas’ masterpiece, Under Milk Wood is in turn funny, touching, and delightful.
An all seeing voice invites the audience to listen to the dreams and innermost thoughts of the sleeping inhabitants of a small Welsh town. It is a fantastic blend of life, love and liquor … a vigorous and rich narrative, sparkling dialogue and beautifully simple songs….it overflows with the authors vision of human experience.
Packed with wonderful characters such as Polly Garter who sings all day for her lost love Little Willie Wee….Gossamer Beynon who feels Sinbad Sailor’s “ goat beard tickle her in the middle of her world”….and Captain Cat who is haunted by the memory of Rosie Probert , “ the one true love of his sea life”.
Under Milk Wood is a sensitive, often comic, examination of Welsh life in which the people viewed are being particularly blessed. They are the “ chosen people of His kind fire in Llareggub’s land”…………
