A SHORT HISTORY

Louche theatre was founded in 1981 by its present Artistic Director, Harry Durnall. Its intention was to revive classic one-act plays of the 50's 60's and '70's that present day audiences may not have seen, and yet often marked a milestone in theatre history or brought a new playwright to the publics attention.

The company's ethos was, and indeed is still, ' be true to the playwright at all times'- that their vision should be realised as they intended. We believe no one knows a play better than its maker, and that Louche Theatre's focus on that ensures its audiences see, quite simply……the real thing
